Jamaica joined the Hague Convention. 30.11.2021

Jamaica joined the Hague Convention.

Jamaica allows the apostille stamp.
The Minister of Justice of Jamaica has submitted to Parliament a bill simplifying the process of certification of foreign documents intended for use in Jamaica or local documents intended for use abroad in the countries of the Hague Convention

The draft law is aimed at creating the basis necessary for the implementation of the conditions of the Hague Convention, which cancels the requirement of consular legalization of foreign official documents.

The provisions of the Convention entered into force for Jamaica on July 3, 2021.

Foreign documents certified by an apostille are recognized in all countries participating in the Hague Convention and do not require any other form of certification, for example, consular legalization, which significantly reduces the costs and time spent on document certification.
